چکیده

This work presents the results from dynamic modeling and control of an azeotropic distillation system. The model was validated with experimental data from a packed distillation unit. The physically-based process dynamic model, developed in HYSYS, was linked online with the control software used in the process. Model parameters were modified online using a feedback configuration to eliminate the difference between the process and model outputs. The fundamental model was used in the implementation of different control strategies, including a multivariable control strategy using model predictive control (MPC) software Predict Pro, via an inferential control strategy to treat missing process measurements. Batch Distillation: Simulation and Experimental Validation

Batch industries, specially the fine chemical industry, need rapid and robust mathematical models that can easily predict the degree of separation of mixtures like volatile organic compounds. Otherwise, in the study of on line production scheduling and planning of fine chemical plants, there is a lack of quick but reliable and more accurate than black box models in batch distillation. In this w...

Multicomponent Distillation Configurations with Large Energy Savings

In industry, many separation processes involve the separation of multicomponent mixtures using distillation. There are many distillation configurations that can carry out the same overall separation process. These configurations use an equal number of distillation columns, but they differ significantly in energy consumption. Therefore a major challenge for a practitioner is the identification o...

Optimal Design Methodology for Azeotropic Distillation Columns

We develop a short and optimal design methodology for multicomponent mixtures, based on the concept of minimum difference in composition. The minimum reflux ratio is calculated through an analytical procedure, which allowing their use in multicomponent mixtures. The procedure also includes a simple criterion to optimize the structural design of the column, without increasing energy consumption....

Hybrid membrane-distillation processes

This work focuses on modelling, simulation and process analysis of hybrid membrane separations namely on distillation and pervaporation. Such hybrid process can be applied for the separation of multicomponent azeotropic mixtures without the use of entrainer. Its application is illustrated by the separation of a non-ideal ternary mixture of acetone, isopropanol and water. The extended abstract d...

Multicomponent Distillation Modeling of An Essential Oil by the SRK and PSRK State Equations

The equation of state Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) and its modification (predictive SRK or PSRK) are applied to simulate multicomponet distillation, which separate main component of spearmint essential oil. The simulation model is based on bubble point method, and the Wang-Henke algorithm. Spearmint essential oil is considered in the study and the original experimental data were obtained f...
